3 March 2024

In a thrilling match that lived up to the hype, Arsenal Women overcame local rivals Tottenham in front of a sellout crowd at Emirates Stadium on 3 March 2024. The only goal of the game came from Alessia Russo in the 10th minute, as Arsenal secured a crucial victory in the FA Women's Super League.

Match Highlights

The match started at a frenetic pace, with both teams eager to take the lead. Arsenal had the first chance in the 5th minute, when Vivianne Miedema's shot was saved by Tottenham goalkeeper Rebecca Spencer. However, it was Tottenham who came closest to scoring in the opening stages, when Rachel Williams' header hit the crossbar in the 7th minute.

Arsenal eventually broke the deadlock in the 10th minute, when Alessia Russo pounced on a rebound from a shot by Katie McCabe. The England international's goal proved to be the winner, as Arsenal held on to their lead for the rest of the match.

Tottenham had a number of chances to equalize, but they were unable to find a way past Arsenal's resolute defense. The Gunners held on to secure a vital three points, which moved them up to second place in the FA Women's Super League.

Post-Match Reaction

"We're delighted with the win," said Arsenal manager Jonas Eidevall. "Tottenham are a good team, and they made us work hard for the three points. But we showed great character and resilience, and we're pleased to have come away with the victory."

"We're disappointed not to have won," said Tottenham manager Rehanne Skinner. "We had our chances, but we weren't able to take them. Arsenal are a quality team, and they made us pay for our mistakes."
