One-Year Contract with Player Option

The Boston Red Sox announced today that they have signed infielder Justin Turner to a one-year contract for the 2023 season with a player option for 2024. The deal also includes up to $1 million in incentives.

Turner, 38, is a three-time All-Star and two-time Silver Slugger who has played for the Los Angeles Dodgers, New York Mets, and Philadelphia Phillies over the course of his career. He is a versatile infielder who can play third base, second base, and first base.

In 2022, Turner hit .278 with 13 home runs and 63 RBIs in 128 games for the Dodgers. He also led the National League in on-base percentage (.360) and walks (104).

The addition of Turner gives the Red Sox a much-needed boost to their offense. He is a veteran leader who has been a key contributor to some of the most successful teams in baseball over the past decade.
